A SHARED VISION

Barlby High joins Hope Sentamu Learning Trust

Barlby High School is now officially part of the Hope Sentamu Learning Trust, a move which ensures the best opportunities for its students and staff.

By joining the Trust, the school is now working collaboratively with Hope’s partner secondary schools, Manor CE Academy and Vale of York Academy, sharing best practice, developing staff, making advancements in teaching and learning and ensuring strong outcomes for students. Key staff from the Hope Sentamu Learning Trust including a Director of Maths, a Director of English and a Special Needs Coordinator will work with Barlby and other Hope schools on quality assurance and enhancement.

Julie Caddell, who was previously Vice Principal at Manor CE Academy, took up her role as Barlby High’s Headteacher in May this year.

Julie said “Our vision is that every child should flourish and develop a real love for learning. We want the very best for all our students and have high expectations for them. By being part of the Hope Sentamu Learning Trust, we reap the benefits of having centralised support where and when we need it and from working in partnership with staff across the Trust. Our students’ learning opportunities will be enhanced and they will have the chance to thrive.”

Brian Crosby, Chief Executive Officer of the Hope Sentamu Learning Trust said “The High School has been part of the Barlby community since 1960 and we are committed to ensuring that the school retains its heritage and identity. All of our schools have their own unique identities and these differences will continue to be celebrated but joining the Hope Sentamu Learning Trust provides a mutual benefit of sharing resources and offering more choice and greater opportunities for students and staff.

“We are delighted to welcome Barlby High to the Trust.”

The visible changes at Barlby High School include the school’s new signage, new uniform and new leadership, but its name remains unchanged. The school is holding an open evening on Thursday 28 September at 6.30pm. All are welcome to come along to see the school, meet the staff and students and hear about the changes.

The Hope Sentamu Learning Trust is a growing multi-academy trust with three secondary and three primary schools in York and Selby.
