Working in partnership with York St John University, we have supported 180 training teachers to date to secure their first teaching posts. We offer an extensive range of professional development opportunities to help you learn, develop and shape your career during your PGCE year and beyond.
Hope Sentamu Learning Trust offers training to help you secure your first teaching role after your PGCE year, such as job applications advice and mock interviews. The support you receive during your training year then continues into your Early Career Teacher (ECT) years. Our Early Career strategy, which adheres to the Early Career Framework (ECF), is delivered in partnership with Ambition Institute and Pathfinder Teaching School Hub and ensures that our ECTs are supported as they transition from their teacher training into employment. Equally, our partners at York St John University continue to support you after your training year with a dedicated ECT service.
At York St John University, we recognise, and celebrate, the fact that many of our schools have very robust, highly effective ECT induction programmes. Our aim is to complement the support being offered in the school, by the Local Authority and Hope Sentamu Learning Trust and to be instrumental in creating highly-skilled, confident and resilient teachers of the future. We offer regular webinars on a range of topics, a dedicated ECT website containing a wealth of resources, frequent communication with our ECTs in the form of newsletters, and also bespoke support both for those in employment and those seeking their first teaching position.”

PTSH leads the delivery of Initial Teacher Training (ITT), Early Career Framework (ECF) and National Professional Qualifications (NPQs) across schools in the Scarborough, Ryedale and York region, with staff able to access high quality research-based training and development at any stage of their career. The work of the Hub also focuses on addressing teacher recruitment and retention by providing training for early career teachers so they have the best possible start to their career, alongside providing opportunities for existing teachers to further develop expertise in important areas of practice.
